When a community is in crisis, leaders respond. VITAL Spartanburg is that response. It’s a collaborative, action-based plan to address the severe mental health and behavioral health crisis affecting Spartanburg county. Working across organizations and systems and meeting people where they are, VITAL will galvanize community leaders, municipalities, healthcare systems and nonprofits to work together to prevent addiction, reduce stigma around mental health, strengthen families, improve treatment, expand access and save lives.

Building on Past Success

Spartanburg has a track record of successful community impact programs. Aligned plans such as Movement 2030, the Spartanburg Community Health Improvement Plan, A Place to Call Home, Behavioral Health Task Force and the Resilient Upstate Behavioral Health Collaborative have paved the way for this discussion. VITAL Spartanburg builds on this collaborative approach, bringing together municipalities, philanthropists, healthcare systems, community clinics and local leaders to deliver programs that meet people where they are and provide treatments and solutions that work.
